Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey -
I had a look through the bible, and couldn't find anything on removable door hinges, so I did a google search and found this method...

Is it a good way of doing it, or are there other options? I saw some billet removable door hinges, but they are about $300...

Suggestions?

I'm on a really slow computer at the moment so I didn't click the link but just cut the top half of the hinge. I've run my last 3 zooks with this mod and I haven't had a drama with it.

Here is what I have done:







My doors can come off in 15 seconds - and only when you want them too (ie - they are not going to fall off!) They are nice and solid.

The door straps with the buckles were off eBay - around $20 from memory (ready to bolt on to the zook). They are also available here: http://clicky-starter.com/Products.html

I removed the hinges from the car to do the chop. I used a Dremel to do all the cutting. Take note of where I have 'angled' and 'rounded' some corners on the hinges too - this makes taking the doors on and off much easier!

Works well for me!

I received those straps last week too!

So the bottom hinge plate needs to be angled a bit, because it is recessed, correct?

Is there a way of replacing the hinge pins? I would like to make the bottom one a tad longer, just to aid putting them back on...

I angled the bottom hinge plate and the tops of the "bit the pins go into" because it makes it SO much easier to align the door when putting it on, AND it prevents scratching the hell out of the side of your zook if you "miss"!!!

You don't want the bottom pin any longer than it is because it will make it very difficult to get the door on and off. I played around with a few lengths and found that what I have now is perfect. Super easy and still as sturdy as a un-chopped hinge!
