1.6EFI to 2.0EFI conversion on a Vitara Wagon

I have a 92 1.6EFI Wagon with overheating issues that may require a full rebuild. Have been looking at options whether it was worth rebuilding the motor, getting another 1.6 as a half cut or seeing if I can stick in a 2.0 motor from a half cut. Just a few questions;
1. Is there much of a power difference between the 1.6efi and the 2.0 efi?
2. Is it easy to swap the motors?
3. Is it legal to upgrade to a 2.0?
4. Is it worth the expense or effort or should i just get my 1.6efi rebuilt?
After opinions and info please.

vitaras are famous for clogging the radiator. its a simple fix. as far as conversions in a vit are concerned the 2.0 litre h20 v6 would be a much better option and they are getting cheaper as imports. not a real fan of the j20 for cylinder motor as i've pulled out and converted too many of these motors but some people don't have a drama with them. mounts will need to be modified etc but it can be done. if i can fit one in my lj80 it will fit fine in a 4 door vit, though you may need the later v6 estate bonnet with the 'hump' in it. in vic this conversion would be legal and may be in qld but you would also have to upgrade to the brakes that these engines run.

I put a new radiator in and flushed it all so thats not the problem. I suspect either a head gasket or its cracked between the cylinders as there is a small amount of oil sludge showing up in the radiator cap.

will be the head then more than likely. just remember a replacement motor is quite cheap but a conversion done properly won't be, but it will be worth while.
