L28 injection+280zx cam

Post by JelmerMQ »

I bought a complete injection from a US 280zx for my Patrol. My setup now is:
280ZX cam
240Z SU carbs
"Zcar" header with to large exhaust (3")

I had it dyno't the make the carbs work and the HP is 140 at the crank and 200Nm torque. It is a high reving engine now.

My plan is:

Fit the injection from the 280zx
Big bore trottle body
Make the exhaust more narrow (2,5") for some more back presure

I would like to have some more torque in the low/midrange but still be able to rev it to 6500rpm.

Any suggestions??

That does not sound like enough HP from a 2.8
A nissan std L24 motor in the old 240K's had 130 HP from the factory thats with the simple single carb and 2" max exhaust and a normal cam.

The 280ZX motor with cam, SU's etc should be alot better dont you think

280zx/L28s are actually alot tamer then they should be because apparently when they came out there were lots of emission regulations coming in, so they were built with the emphasis more on economy not power.
I think from memory my L28 from my patrol has a P54 head, coud be wrong though!

Well, I'm from Holland. We use DIN hp, thats always lower. The 280ZX had 140hp in Europe.

I don't have a hotter cam, just the 280ZX cam in my stock Patrol motor.
