hey guys,
just wanted to know about anyone that has a decent daily driven lux... And how you went with your rear suspension being dot approved as such.
i just got pinged a few weeks back for my invertedd shocks, ifs rears and 200mm shackles. Now i know of a few trucks getting around that a roadworthy with similar setups. How did you blokes manage?
I just spoke bout my truck to a bloke, he can plate the bodylift and complete engine conversion n fuel system.. however cant do too much about my ifs rear conversion. hmmm... any ideas? ive got all the standard gear still was gonna just wack all that in but its no where near as good offroad. i have to present to the ute to dot in 2 weeks...
Cheers.

ask the guy whos plating the rest of your mods what it would take to plate your rear suspension. maybe its only the shackles that are holding you back?

hey man he should at least plate the shocks and maybe slap stock shackles on for a day if they will fit. but some one should plate it cause it only states in the rule book the use of extended shackles to lift the car is not allowed. it does not say there not allowed at all and yours are to make the springs work

Extended shackles are illegal whatsoever. Should be able to change the rear shackles back to standard ones if you have them. Then get him to approve the inverted rear. Only problem being that the rear shackle angle will be shite using stock length shackles. I can't see why it would be a problem having longer springs and shocks.
If the work on the inverted rear is up to scratch, then you shouldn't have a problem.

would he engineer moving your shackle mounts further back, so that you can get good shackle angle with standard shackles and longer ifs springs?
might be a bit of a compromise, you would still have better suspension than stock, but it might pass mustard with the dot.

yeh im thinkin that. however without moving the front spring hanger forward first, i cant mover the rear because i run out of the rail section to mount it on that has strength in it..
cant run standard shackles sky, dosent work, cant work at all unless moving mounts.. if i have to move mounts ill cut all the shit out of it and put coils under it, anything to get it passed... its shits me how ya cant have a half decent hilux anymore without doing coils for a daily. then ya see all the skyline and rx7 wanks with all their shit getting round. thats really grinds my gears ay...
