I reckon you will need about another inch. Or a shiat load of "trimming". I know it's been done before, Ive seen 37's under just 2", so anything is possible. But if you want to be able to return to stock for any reason, find another inch of lift.

i run 2+2 and 34 jt's scrubs the rear a bit under full flex. needs a trim.

front would be sweet with some radius arm spacers to keep them away from the back of the wheel arch. apart from that they're fine.

as long as you have the clearance to fit them in there on level ground then it will work. just set your bump stops up to stop it from scrubbin as it flexes

I have 35's on my shorty with drop boxes, 4" susp/2" body.
They still rub on the front guards every now and then (despite drop boxes spacing the front diff forward) and on the rear of the rear guards even though they have been trimmed so some lower control arm mods coming and front guard trimming. I still have rubbing on flex on the rears but it's to be expected and i'm not fitting longer bumpstops.

Springs and shocks - yes! I love my 4 inch (no smart comments you lot :D ) but thats extra $. I reckon go 2" definitely and maybe 3".
If you have to - trim the guards if necessary. But my 2 cents worth is NOT to do the body lift. What you save by not going with the body lift and all that you have to alter might give you the extra $ to go 3"?.

I allready have 2 inch springs and a 2 inch body lift so maybe i just cut the guards for now see how it goes and if i want to go bigger down the track just do it then

Just run the 2 inch spring and cut the shit out of your guards. I went from a 2+2, then went to 4+2, then 7+2, then back to 4+2 and now I just have a 4 inch spring lift without the body lift but would prefer just a 2 to 3 inch lift. The longer you drive, the harder you push things and the lower you will want your COG. I say fit the 2 inch springs and if you want to go higher just fit 30mm spacers. That is plenty high enough on a shorty.
