2F and 3F similarities

Hey guys,

It seems I have run one of the main bearings dry on the 2F in my FJ40 and stuffed the crank. Such a shame as it was a sweet running original motor with less than 200,000 on it. Now I happen to have a 1984 model FJ45 Troopy that I bought for parts. It has a high milage 3F in it that was still running so I'm thinking I could grab the crankshaft and drop it into the 2F.

Can anyone tell me if the crankshafts are the same?

3F is basically a de-stroked 2F, the crank is different.

Thanks for the replies. I've saved a bunch of time not trying to make that 3F crank fit. I managed to track down another 2F crankshaft from a mate of a mate so with some new bearings and seals and gaskets I should be good to go early next week.

Thanks again for the info.

Still havn't put the 2F back together but now I've got another compatability question.

Will my 2F bolt up to the auto trans in an FJ73 that came with a 3F?
The FJ73 is in good nick and the engine runs fine it's just really gutless and thirsty compared to the 2F.

should do, all the 3f's i've seen had the same bellhousing bolt pattern, so i'd say yes
