Exhaust Upgrades

Have decided it's time for another power upgrade and new zorst on the patrol and have decided 3" madrel is what I want from the turbo back.
Is it worth spending the dollars to get a known brand like Taipan in kit form or do you get the same results from a cheapy?
Vehicle is a 2.8 GQ.

a lot of brand name exhausts are chinese rubbish, patrol is very easy to do custom on so its often worth it as labours not huge.

I'd say depends on how long you intend keeping the truck. cheap and nasty may last a couple of yrs, where spending more "MAY" last longer.

Can you recommend anywhere that does a good job on customs in Melbourne? Roughly how much would be looking at aswell?

Put a 3" mandrel on my non turbo 4.2 recently and it made a HUGE difference!
Was done in prep for that turbo one day though

I often wonder if you really need mandral bend on a slug diesel.. I mean its not a performance engine/truck...
Lilydale Exhaust did mine when I had some turbo work done with Dieseltec.
Also Beaudesert do complete kits that bolt straight up.

Agreed, i've also wondered this but people say don't look at anything else.

How much did they charge for it if not a rude question?

Have looked at the Beaudesert kits and they have a good reputation. How hard are they to DIY bolt it on? I would have concerns with the dump pipe and how hard it would be to get up in there to get it on.

No offence to the seller but you can get a custom one made and fitted for less.

When I was shoppin round for exhausts on mine, I kept hearing people telling me "I paid $400-500 complete", yet when you actually look into it, they didnt... 700 + fitting is around normal for an average person off the street walking in and asking for a 3inch mandral bend system. Beaudesert are $1000+ now then dump #200+ on top of that.

I can tell you now on 3 patrols I have paid $600 that was 3 inch mandrel bent from waste gate back (modifying waste gate was also in this price) on a highmount manifold (which means higher, harder more bends and work) all the way to the back, yes some guys pay more becuase there not in the trade or don't know the right people, but I can tell you now its not that expensive, the patrol is a pretty easy fit too, not a lot of hours needed.
