As you may have gathered from one of my other posts i have had to pull down my turbo'd 2H recently as it had developed a nock of sorts that nobody could confirm , well ..........
Once pulled right down today , we were supriced to say the least when we pulled out both rear main bearing caps in 2 pieces each.
So with a quick trip to southside 4x4 i have sourced another short motor on std bearings and bores .
So tomorrow we start again..........from bloody scratch

Pix of the bits... did you thrash it or treat it nice. I ask 'cause I'm thinking of going this track myself due to lack of budget.

This motor was only 50,000klm old from a complete rebuild , BUT was never built as a turbo motor ie : no turbo pistons etc.
Thrash it , you must be joking ............ its a bloody 2h they just don't rev and no i don't thrash it in any other way to the point that i don't even like pushing it over 100kmh on the hyway.
But don't let this turn you off going down the turbo 2h route as i expect mine to be a freak case to have done this compared with the 100's of these old girls still running around just fine with 300,000ks + on the clock.

not a first.
i had an old 2H sitting around in a rusty old 60 with about 330 on the clock. Car was serviced until it was decided that the rust was not worth fixing and the car was left to be a farm truck.
After about 1 year the battery was farked and I decided to roll start it and take it for a spin. Once started it had a wierd knocking noise that I couldn't diagnose, intially i though the tappets were way out as the car still had considerable power. I drove it to the mechanic in the nearby town and he said bottom end bearing.
Pretty similar to what happened to you.
it's now a very useful parts car.
