Is the 5spd in my 4runner a G52 then?

If your truck still runs the same gearbox from the factory, it will have the model no. of it on the model plate, mounted on the firewall in the engine bay, along with diff ID, engine ID etc.

Don't get too confused with all the gearbox no.s, Hilux/ 4runners came out with only 2 types- the smaller box (like the G52) and a bigger cased box in some of the V6's, Surfs and Bundera.

Lots of variations in gear ratios between the different model no.s tho, and as toyrex said different output shafts.
