WHATS THE BEST TIMING MARKS

NOOB QUSTION
The ones on the flywheel ,or the one on the pulley as their seems to be a bit of variation. Between the two around 2 deg diffrence

Best way to be sure is to find TDC on No1 (top dead centre).
To do this remove No1 spark plug and wind engine over till a timing mark lines up, then insert a thin piece of wood or a knitting needle or similar (not a dirty old screwdriver as it may scratch the bore) and rock the engine until the stick reaches its upper most point.
This will be "true TDC" then you will know which mark is correct.
(I'd use the flywheel)

what engine do you have, you might have a flogged out crank keyway
