ok so i have saved the $5000 for 5" lift going to go the snake kit

still not sure if snake drop arms are better
or drop boxes as there is a lot of talk of drop boxes

is this because there cheeper to install than fitting $2500 worth of drop radius arms or they are a better system

would realy like everyones opinion on this as i an a fitter welder and fitting boxes is easy enuff for me but dont want to do it if not a better system.

thanks chris

boy o boy, 5 gorillas for a lift kit. I assume you have shopped around, there are plenty of comprehensive kits around for much less. it is a lot of money so make sure you are getting what you pay for. even if you save a grand or 2, that pays for alot of other goodies ie diff lock, roof rack, spotties, winch etc

good luck man

I'd go for flexy coils, long arm conversion, superior flex arms

Speak to your engineer first. Whatever gear you use, he'll probably want to see the test report on it, unless he's seen it before. $5000 will probably be closer to the mark once you factor in another grand for arms, and one more for engineers report, brake test, wheel alignment, etc.

go the superior super flex arms. they the best money iv spent on patrol. keeps the wheels on the ground a whole lot more= a whole lot more traction. superior know there shit. :) :D

I would run 2dextreme comp spec arms first, or superior superflex as a second choice.

Shop around for your suspension parts, you will be suprised.

5 thou would want to be a flash kit.

First question: why do you need 5inch lift?

by want to be a wylie
my brother owns the "cashie" in the members section, the 75 series with coil overs and we need another truck capable of getting in to the places we want to try and go

but i cant afford the down time in the nissan so i want a bolt in kit or at least weekend max mod time frame for componets

I've got snake arms and they are fine, but I do remove a radius arm bolt to get them to flex when wheeling. Would I spend the money on them again? No I wouldn't.

The superior kit with the high flex radius arms looks the best going for a straight bolt in kit but I wouldn't go more than 4 inches in a LWB or 3 inches in a shorty. I'd definitely look at the long lower control arms they have for the rear as well.

are you indicating that superior rear arms are not good as other brands

if so what commercially available rear arms are the best

whos componets make the ultimate kit list

1 superior flex arms
2 coils ?
3 shocks ?
4 upper rear arms ?
lower rear arms ?
5 adj panards ?
6 the easyest method for sway bar disconect ?
(are there diffrent methods)

all of superiors stuff is good. call them and tell them what you want. superiors red gq has only 4 inch lift i think. theres another topic in nissan section that explains how the long arms work. think the topic name is "rear flex".

IMO, the quickest and cheapest and best handling is to go 1 x superflex arm to suit std height and a set of drop boxes. From all reports they ride nice handle great and have the most flex of any arm setup.
a full set of superflex arms is the ultimate as you get no loss of chassis clearance, but are more expensive.

either way work really well its all a matter of choice?

I cant beleve people do this still..

agree.

I would go a superior suspension kit with the long arm kit and both front arms. If you are going normal style shocks as a opposed to custom use EFS extreme's over the tough dogs. Drives way better on them. 4/5 inch lift will be fine on a lwb.

I'm running 3 1/2" lift on my shorty, and run drop boxes and the standard flex arm
For clearance, go drop flex arms, but I'm told for handling and better climbing over obstacles, the drop boxes are better?

I don't know many people that get hung up due to drop boxes, sure they scrape, but I've never been stuck due to them.

I just got a 4-5" superior kit off Shane "4wd stuff" :D . AWSOME  !!!!

Very happy with the drop arms!

Best option for sway bar disconects is pull them out of the truck and discard them  ...

Get the braided brake lines when you get the kit, so much better pedal!!!

Longer fixed length lowers as there stronger than the adjustables, or long arm kit.

etc...

one simple answer just buy a toyota :D, decsions, decsions, decsions

all jokes aside, how do the other kits apart from the snake kit handle on road, a mate of mine has the 5 inch snake kit in his truck, and the thing is really good in the bush and off road, its comes down to this also, its not a dedacated off road truck it will be driven monday to friday and needs good road handling, as most of the time the truck will be on the black top, chris is also wanting to run 37 inch tyres

No, I was saying the long arm kit is a very good option that will increase stability. From what I have seen of Superior gear it looks to be great quality and with the bonus of the flex radius arms and the rear long arm kit it would be the best performing bolt on kit around. As I said earlier, Snake gear is good quality (except the rear lower adjustable control arms) albeit a little expensive, but you don't get the performance offroad that you would with the full superior kit (that includes the above mentioned extras).

I had a megalift/snake 5inch kit with tough dogs in my GU wagon on 35s and it drove alright without sway bars but in 2 years it had 2 sets of tough dogs fail. I changed the coils and shocks to EFS extremes and the difference was awesome. Far nicer to drive, the shocks are way better.
when i came to set up my GU ute i got a EFS kit from Superior. Drives very nice no swaybars on 37inch Krawlers.
Next mods will be the long arm kit and the super flex arms. After seeing the difference the super flex arms made to a friends GQ both on and off road they are money very well spent

To quote snake racing's web site,

All products mentioned on this web site are for off road use only. We recommend checking with the transport authority in your state and obtaining a engineers report for all modifications that are carried out. It is also in your best interest to check with your insurance company that they will still cover your vehicle for any modification you intend on performing.
