im thinkin about swaping mu 1.3 transfer case for a 1 ltr case for more reduction. will it give enough reduction to run 31s nicely in the bush in low range?
will i still be able to do 100 kms?
is it a straight swap between them, same mounts etc?
thx

No it won't.

31's are 20% bigger than stock. a 1.0 transfer is only 12% lower than what you have now.

No it's not a 100% straight swap as the flanges need to be swapped and so you need an expensive "shift light" 1.0 case to be able to swap them with your 1.3, and if you're a WT sierra, you'll have to ditch the handbrake.

None of this is a big deal, but gears are pretty cheap nowdays and will give you a much better result with a 31" tyre.

1.0 cases were only really viable pre rockhopper (or pre rockhoppers that didn't grenade)

Steve.

It depends what you consider cheap. You can pick up a 1L Trasnfer for $20 if you look hard enough, even a complete 1L Sierra is cheaper then a new gear set.

Whilst it certainly isn't the perfect solution, it's still better then nothing at all.

still a 1.3? or bigger?

yes it will work but basically gives the same as stock but as rock said it is better than u have now and if u can get it cheap it will be good to get.

i have same in mine and works well. if u do real steep climbs or decents then it may still be an issue.

this may sound like a stupid question but by fitting TRANSFER CASE gears, does it affect driving in 2wd??
and why is it that all the websites have diffent prices for 6.5 gears? lowrange want $475 but OVERKILL want near $1000??
could u reccomend a good place to buy?what price is exoected for 6.5's?

yes it does. as it effects the high range reduction

ever heard of inflation and import taxes?

buy where u want too. Most buy from the US

the swap is not that hard. i did it myself and had it done in an afternoon.
You dont need to swap over all the flanges.

Remove the handbrake and a put the WT flange on the rear. Then you swap over the jackshaft and front shaft ends with 1ltr ends. Case mounts swap over, speedo cable bolts in and you get some gearing back.

cheaper and easier than gears. and its a huge improvement when ya got bigger tyres

can get 1ltr cases for $50 and 1ltr shafts are everywhere. I got a heap here.
