Got a black taiwanese door on my lux, what is the method to get a reasonable finish. I will get matching paint.

even overlapping passes, start spraying off the edge of the panel and pass over the other edge before you release pressure on the can... Try your best to maintain the same distance from the panel for each and every pass

i've painted doors before with a spray can. white gloss, even passes starting and finishing over the edge. numerous coats get best finish.

You can get a pretty good colour match for your colour code down at auto barn these days, do a couple of coats, then a few coats of clear. also lots of finger exersices, cause they're gonna get tired.

just a warning, the Autobarn spray cans are about $35 each vs $52 for a whole litre of paint + Thinners.
You'll get a much better finish from a cheap spray gun than a spray can, even better if you can borrow for beer.

Damn. Last time i bought one of those big spray cans they were only like $15. things have changed big time over the past few years.
As ferrit said, get a cheap gun and buy it by the pot. make sure it's gravity fed, cause you will get a better spray. and you will always find another use for it down the trac anyway.

Shpo around a few smashies and try to find one that does alot of car yard work - there is often a little smash repairer on the same street as a few car yards and they do pretty cheap repairs to get all the car yard work.
i got a door painted for about $100. by the time you buy paint and clear and sand paper and primer etc it might be cheaper just to get it sprayed.

You cant put presure pack or any paint for that matter straight over those black primers unless your using a wet on wet sealer. If you don't use a sealer once you get a chip it will delaminate.
The only other option is to prime the door then rub it down then paint it. Using pressure pack cans to prime and paint the door will end up costing you the same price as getting a smash shop to do it but the quality wont be anywhere near as good.
My advice would be to save yourself the heartache and get it done properly at a panel shop.
Cheers Mick.
