g,day all
i have a range rover 1990 with a standard non winch arb bullbar
i am wanting to put a winch into this bar spoke to some wanker at arb and he says the bar will not fit a winch and that i need to buy a winch bar
is there a way that i can cut and weld in a winch plate to mount a winch into this bar or has any one done this before
or maybe someone knows where i could get this modification done in the dandenong/cranbourne area
all help appreciated
thanks again

The bars are the same and the winch bar has provisions ie pevetrations and bolt holes for the winch
It depends on how handy you are with a welder and grinder and time verses money .
Smithies outback in Cranbourne should be able to look after it if you want to farm it out.

Yes...I have done it.
The original "non-winch" bar did need in a lot of additional welding on joints to add strength. I also trimmed the corners and added side bars to protect the panel a bit more and improve approach angle. Spent about 6 huors on it!

It certainly can be done and Cheezy racing in Bayswater has also done it.
I was of the understanding that the centre plate sections in the non winch bar was not as thick as the winch bar model. Perhaps this was only applicable on the older bars.

I also did it with my arb bar, just made a cradle out of 3mm plate to fit in between the rails of the bullbar.
There was a write up on AULRO, thats what I used, so just have a search on there for bullbar cradle or tjm cradle, as it was a tjm bar he did it for.
cheers

Then you could always buy a good second hand one from me to suit a Disco with crush tubes.
