QLD Laws Regarding Extended Shackles

i would like to know QLD law's for extended shackles and if people have been pulled up for it, ohh and if im a nut case to have them on a daily driver.....

Not legal. Dunno of anyone who has been booked for it though.
AFAIK, it IS legal to use a solid block that spaces the shackle downward, but this requires approval.
How much longer are you planning to make them?

I reckon you need to brace those in the middle to keep them square and straight. Like, weld in a cross-piece or something.
I won't try to say whether they look close enough to stock to go unnoticed by the fuzz...

I have extended front and superiors on the rear. have had cops looking at my car and never been busted but then i know of a guy in a cruiser who got done for them so........????????

Have been told anything but standard is illegal. But as long as there not outragous and way to long, if they look simular you could get away with it. Those in the pic I wouldn't think would get past any cop or DOT person.

Along the same lines but for NSW, what is the status of the 2" extended superior shackles with the rotating yokes, legal or not

pretty sure supiour shackles are legal, but as u can see mine aint superior shackles

I've had cops walk around my truck in mt Isa, but mine are only 2 1/2" extended and the are painted matt black+mud. But hey, they won't touch ya till ya have an acko

I was looking at buying a set of Superior shackles off a guy on this forum, but he had been defected for them, I guess they look too different from a standard shackle. I had talked to a guy at one of the local 4wd shops and he said they make longer shackles that look the same as original because most dot people or cops wouldn't know how long they were standard anyway.

Here's a blurb on NSW rules, but I think it's basically from ADR's.
3.5.4.11 Changes to ride height are limited to one third of the working travel of the suspension from kerb mass height to metal to metal bump or rebound positions as specified by the manufacturer. Such modifications must comply with the following:
· altered spring free lengths are acceptable providing the spring seat load is maintained at full rebound and material stresses are not exceeded;
· the use of extended spring shackle plates is not permitted;
· the suspension ride height of a coil spring suspension shall not be lowered by cutting off a section of the spring coils. New coil springs with increased spring rate specifications to provide for the reduced travel of the suspension shall be fitted.
