What brand is your current setup? Post a picture show us what you have. Do you want to go total LPG? Dual fuel is always a compromise for engine tuning. Do you only drive in city areas or go bush?

Hey bud not sure of brand ill get some pics tomorrow after work but the guy who "tuned" it said there the only brand with an 8 and 10mm mixtiure screw. As for total lpg i wouldnt mind it but do go out bush at times and if im going to continue gettin 350ks out of 75L of gas i think ill get into some trouble :p

350kays out of 75lt of Gas.......I only get 310kays out of 105lt's but it does go OK even with the 33's on.

Best bet is to go GAS research with an EFI manifold and then gives you option of turbo later.....

But it comes down to what you are after power or economy you can't really have both

Shit ok so maybe mine isnt as bad as i think, reason why i was worried is when i bought it 2 years ago it cost me $9 from Ipswich to Warwick (approx 100ks) went the other weekend and it cost me $29. I know gas is dearer but not 3 times the price :( but like i said its bloody slow cant hold any gear on the slightest hill or rises. Might try and find other people local with the same setup see if mine is slow or its just me.....

Thats terrible economy! I get 480kms out of 90L running 33's. With my twin tanks I can get close to 750km.

hi man

i will have to say i think you are spinning is quite large here..

or your odometer is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out.

480 km's with LPG is impossible in a 4.2ltre patrol in any guise

thats 18 litres per hundred. LPG!!!

What conversion kit are you running?....I have an impco 300A on mine.

Impco 425 with EFI manifold. Fully custom setup. I should say too thats highway driving. It gets 19's on the highway and about 22's when going offroad. Distances GPS tested.

Mate, I would be interested to know a few things about that setup if your willing to share.

I have a dual fuel currenty, impco 300a.

if i were to get hold of a 425 and appropriate convertor, efi manifold, what other items would i need to duplicate that setup ? I already have the pertronix.

What second tank are you using, i currenty have the big 120L (105 odd usable) and the aux fuel tank.

Are those custom adaptors you have used to hook up to the silicon elbows? or are they available off something ?

TJ81 - The whole setup is custom made. All the brackets, fittings and air box are all modified. The EFI manifold has been modified too to remove the injector rail and water jacket. You can buy everthing from Impco to do the conversion but all of their parts are a comprimise between cost and efficiency. I have access to mig welders and milling machines etc. I also have an extensive workshop at home. Its been many many hours to put it together. I'm still ironing out some bugs with the 425 but its nearly there. This setup is probably not real good as a daily driver as the 425 should really be mounted vertical. It may wear prematurely. I only drive my GQ on weekends as I have a company supplied car. (Rav4 with 200 killawasps!). I also have a 2 inch body lift which allows room for the 425 - it may foul without one. It also lets the second tank tuck up better too.
Tank 1 APA 115/92 and tank 2 APA 61/49.
This setup is no race car and I think I can still get more out of it. I will get it dynoed soon and will post the specs.

Bosch GT40 coil - pertronix lobe sensing - NGK BP6 plugs - extractors - std exhaust - snorkel - std engine with 400,000km

Have a look at my photobucket site to see the buildup.

I have a TB42 running a TLG Gas Products 350 set up. I have 33's and 4.11 ratios (manual 5spd) and was getting 350kms out of 90ltr. I was at Giantracing's place one day and asked him to take a look at it for me. He tuned it for me and I am now getting 430kms out of 90ltrs of semi rural driving (live at Jimboomba and work at Wacol). I reckon it would get better still if I was on a long drive (haven't been away yet to test it). It also goes a lot better than it was to.

Mate if your driving past Wacol during work hours then let me know and you can come take mine for a run.

I have a 90 Carby 5 Spd Manual gq lwb its got lsd 33" muds that were brand new (when i did this) loaded trip to qld from vic and back got me 400 kms to a tank of 83lts Gas
and 250kms 70lts petrol all the way there and all the way back
pretty good average for hwy (was all at speed limit)
Although i think i used a little more doing a couple of burnout on a roo when it did $2500 damage down the side :2gunfire: ) 3am :bad-words:

normaly round town stuff get about 350kms for 83lts gas and dont run petrol much for comparison

The thing runs rich as on fuel you smell it in the cabin and has a very small gas leak in the converter one of the seals not big enough to fix but yeah.

Im pretty sure its an impco setup it has the big tennis racquet air filter jigger onto of the carby

i get 300kms out of my tank (sometimes) depends if im on the freeway or not, thats 85ltrs of gas in my 4.8ltr, i reckon thats friggen shocking, but seems to be on par with the others here. i dont any probs with power tho.

i once got 355km on a trip, but its never had that again. i have also had nothing but problems with my system since fitting it, i think all the problems steemed from the guys that fitted it (wagga car auto clinic)

i have since spent another $1000 changing the gas computer and wiring and tune, and im still only on my 3rd tank but its not looking any better on fuel but NO PROBLEMS, how good is it now, no back firing, no surging, no stalling, starts 1st go every go, same sort of power as the fuel (except at hi revs fuel is better) but so much better. I recomend the guys at wedmierers garage in riverview as these guys found what was wrong with my car when i took it in for a change of rego, easy asthat, spose it helps to know what your talking about.

regards

casey

I tend to agree with earlier posts that 18 - 19 - 22 litres per hundred is way to low. For a 400000k engine it must be running really lean and be well down on power and driven really gently to achieve that. The best that i ever got was 21 l/100. However i now get 22-23 with the 302 cleveland in its place which i am happy to accept

if you want your carby patrol to run " properly" on petrol, you have to get your carby re-jetted down a few sizes. At the moment, it woudl be running very rich because its not getting teh same amount of air that it used to.

Mate just send me a PM and let me know what day would suit you so I can take the patrol to work that day. I work at Western Star Trucks head office at Wacol there (not the Rocklea branch).

I better do something about mine then.

i have a landi system thats as old as ayers rock, and i get close to 200km's out of a 65l useable tank :bad-words:

i run 33's with 4.11 diffs and have an auto.

reasonable power, but no economy.

may not be relevant to you guys but i have gq 4.2 auto lwb with a tartarini multipoint and 285/70/16 tyres (mts) on motorways where i normally cruise at 80mph or so (135is kph) am getting 220 miles per 80 litres or kms 350ish

I get 19-20litres per 100 with 35's and 1 passenger on board, air con on the whole 500 kay return trip full highway cycle of course, full suburban/city it does 360-400 on average which for those of you who have seen me drive is not easy. If you have a basic system no matter how good your tuner its not going to be lean when you need it nor will it supply gas when you open it up as a lot of systems are only single stage adjustable, worse yet quite a few actually ad a restriction to the intake tract once gas is installed, its a lose lose.
