The intake manifold gasket blew and then oil spewed out everywhere.
Took the inter cooler pipe off and oil ran out of the turbo ,so I am assuming the turbo seal is gone. All pipes are covered in oil.The turbo has very minor play in the shaft but hasn't rubbed the blades on the body.

Turbo is a td04.

Questions:
Should I buy a new turbo ? and any recommendations from were from , or should I rebuild this one? Kit on ebay is about $100 delivered.
Is this the same turbo used in a wrx?
Can I buy a rex turbo as they seem cheaper.

I dont think the motor has been compromised sucking in a litre of oil over the last week

Cheers
Mike

I f you remove/reduce the load on a turbo it can/will over-speed and this will cause oil leaks. Clean it all up and reassemble it then run it and monitor the oil usage

took it to the diesel places today they think the turbo is fine and suggested blow by .
How do I check that out with out putting it all back together?
