Rate the 1993 4Runner Tubo Diesel

Post by hobpedlar »

I have the opportunity to pick up a very cheap 1993 Turbo diesel 4Runner.
I already have a Holden V6 (formerly 22r ) powered 1991 petrol 4Runner so I am familiar with how these go.
Anyone on the forums owned or own a turbo diesel and what are they like?

Acceleration, towing etc?
Any common probs to look out for.
The car I am looking at has a cooked diff (did'nt look but you can smell the stinkin diff oil).

Thanks.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Turns out it is 1990 2-LT Surf.
In great nick. Only the axle seals were leaking (blocked diff breather).
Apart from the sunroof (cable and I wold not use it anyway), everything works.

So I bought it.

Thanks for all the helpful responses....lol
