Area 54 Video - Vehicle Question

I watched the Area 54 Video the other day, I know someone here can help, I think the owner of the vehicle in question may even be on the list.
In the video there is a landrover that is obviously very well built that has the front diff set up to divert power from one side to the other.
I would like to find out how this is done and what are the pro's and con's of it.
Wouldn't it be hard on front axles?

Ok you are talking about the Mogrover. But what do you mean about diverting power from one side to the other? Or do you mean one end to the other?
Also which Area 54 Video is it? There are 2 different ones. One is Zone Outerlimits and the other is Area 54 and Black Duck Valley Rockcrawling.

that'd be sam overton AKA 'Strange Rover' on here. it is the haultech traction control unit that he designed in operation, it senses wheelspin and applies the brakes to transfer power to the opposite wheel. i'm sure he can explain it MUCH bettter than this simple explanation

If he is talking abut the Mogrover in its MOG form it doesnt have Traction control.

i'd say the one he's talking about is the 'zone outerlimits' one where it still had the dana's. and the part that i remember noticing the traction control sending power from one side to the other was when he was trying to climb the soup bowl, and the power transfer was very noticable.

You are prob right i never even remembered that the first time Sam attempted this was still on the D44 Axles and Troy was there filming.

Thats the one. Even supprised me how much the front wheels were hunting back and forth (basically overbraking one wheels which then spinns the opposite one and then brakes that one which spinns the opposite one and so forth and do forth). I can remember that I changed a few things on the traction control before that run to make it work better and the side effect was the hunting problem.
Not necessarily hard on the axles but fairly ugly to watch (in my eyes anyway) and obviously not the best way for the traction control to be performing.
I did learn some though as it did really picked up the responce time on the single effort obstacles (like one wheel jamed behind a single ledge which which just needs a single braking effort on the free spinning wheel) but it then created problems on the more fiddley obstacles where you just have both front wheels a little bit loose and you might get one with a bit more traction than the other and vice versa (like on a slippery throttling climb)
Do a search on traction control with me as the author and you should fine a bit more info although I havnt really gone into it in much detail.
We do plan to sell the traction one day
