will 33 x 12.5 fit on my standard Patrol 15 x 7 rim?

If not how wide can I go on these rims?

I have done a search but can't find what I am looking for.

Short answer = yes, they will work no worries. More open to sidewall damage though.

they will fit, but you wont want them to, they will handle like shit, and your sidewalls will love everything going thru them.

go 15x8's $60ea if you want 12.5's.

for your 7's, some people go 11.5's but 10's are great.

Tread pattern will be a more defining factor than width. 10.5 Trekkers will go far better than 12.5 cheapies anyday, anywhere..

Extreme/super aggressive compared to a "normal" mud terrain tyre.

I have 35x10.5R15 Simex ET's (on 15x8's). I chose them because they have less dramas with guard clearance (skinnier), weigh a little bit less, and you get more weight onto a smaller surface area compared to a fat tyre.

Fat and skinny tyres both have their pro's and cons. Its whatever suits you car and driving style.

Thanks Coxy, I was thinking of the Silverstone Xtreams as an option. I have a 2 " lift on my SWB, so the 33 x 10.5 would fit better under the guards with less rubbing.

Would this be the case?

ive been running 33 x 12.5 on 15 x 7 rims for over a year have had no probs on or off road they haven't rolled of the rim like tyre guy said they would...

What are the pro's and con's of wider tyres, verses skinner tyres?

I have Silverstone Xtremes in a 35x11.5x15 on my LWB with only 2" lift and couldn't be happier . Absolutely transformed my truck like u wiouldn't believe. Came from a set of 33" buckshots.. No comparison!

How Noisy are the Silverstone's on the road. And how do the perform all round, from mud and rock, to sand?

Just commonsense I guess, awesome everywhere bar bitumen.... I run 10 psi off and 40 on road. Very noisy, and never 100% round either, not being a radial. I have a set of 31's I use on road so it's not an issue for me. U will NOT regret buying them for offroad use.

I don't, but I cannot speak for everyone...

It is just these will be the tires on the car all the time, car not daily driver. I just don't know what tyre to get as I don't want to spend alot of money on the old toy, but I want it to be a machine off road.

Perhaps keep an eye out for some cheap tyres here in the classified section.

When I mean cheap I mean I don't want to pay $350 a wheel, Iam prepaired to pay up to 300 just not any more. Having to get new rims as well to fit most 33" tyres is just more cost to each wheel, as alot of 33" tyres are 12.5 in width.

But I am thinking now that with the 2" lift and a 33 x 10.5 tyres is going to cause less problems with rubbing and scraping on the seat belt bolt, which I have heard can also be a problem with the SWB.

Personally i would hang on for some second hand ones. And if the car sits for long periods of time without use (more than 4-6 weeks), go and buy some cheap axle stands (4) and a cheap trolley jack. When you are parking it up for a while, just put it up on stands to save carcass distortion (out of round).

We put our old mans old mans XY on blocks after its bi-annual sunday cruise. White walls are expensive.

dmac04, fat and skinny tyres are like high-heels and dunlop volleys. While both shoes are spreading the same amount of load/weight, the high-heels will do so over a much smaller area.

Fatter tyres tend to "float" over mud etc. wheras a skinnier tyre would tend to "dig" through the mud.

How many Defence Rovers have fat tyres?? Last time i checked they were all reasonably skinny units.

The car gets taken out for a spin at least once a week, I think I can get away with the Silverstones, So what if they are a bit noisy on the road. by the sounds of things they will do me well as a off road tyre, and like I exsplained before I don't know of any other 33" tyres that are a mud tyre and are 10.5 wide.

I just feel they will fit a little better and will do me better off road.

Aye laddie....has been a problem in the past - until the grinder came out that is

l've been running 33x12.5x15's on my 15x7" Nissan rims for over 2 years now and have not had any problems on or off road. They also handle on road extremely well.
