lots of threads on other boards about lack of things at 4wd shows anymore.. and they actually charge you to plow one up ya ginger...enough to make ya hair turn red...
people go expecting bargains, but quite often they are more expensive at 4wd shows cause most people have NO idea of retail costs and think things will be cheaper at the show.
Like Long ranger tanks, $100 more at 4wd show melb!
Talkin to a storage unit seller in Melb about the Melb 4wd show, ARB spends $80k just on the area they have at the Melb show, then theres setting up, stock, staffing etc on top before they make $1...

i went to the show today. i thought it was okay, best part had to be watching videos on the little T.V's they got set up.
would have been nice to see a course set up outside like they did a while back, but with some propewr demonstrations etc.

Yeah, i went to the show yesterday, i was a little dissapointed, as all the other years it has seemed to be bigger, there was only 3 tough trucks there, Mannels GU, Duncan Scotts 75, and Otis, all in all, wasnt too bad, bought a couple of shackles, which if i had of bought at ARB it would have saved money if i didnt bother going to the show, $15 entry fee and i think i saved about $9

I went friday night, mainly to try and find a "show special price" on a Omar speargun........was $59 dearer than from the net
. BUT, visited the ARB stand, hit old mate up for a ARB colour coded deluxe winch bar, got one for $1000
, normally retail is $1280 colour coded
. I was wrapt!

I went yesterday and thought pretty much the same thing, we bought tickets through our 4WD club and got 'em for 1/2 price. I finally subscribed to the 4WD monthly gold labels and got a tufftruck video and a few stickers thrown in. The videos on the tv's all around the place were pretty cool. I couldn't get over the price of the food there though, cost me $7 for two bottles of drink!

I was there on Sunday as well, and have to say that I was truely dissapointed. After shelling out $30 for 2 tickets and $11 for parking I was atleast expecting something as good as last year.
I was wrong, as so many of these things as they get bigger they get more and more comercial, while I have no problem with people making money, I do have a problem with the show being far below standard. I went in 2002 spent over 4 hours walking around (would have been more exceprt the wife pulled the pin), 2003 I was there for nearly 8 hours and this year I was there for just over an hour, 2 thumbs down!!!
Only 4 full on custom trucks, only one hard core manufacturer "Snake Racing" come on guys whats doing........
PS Otis was very cool though
