leaking injector pump

hi all my injector pump on my 4.2 deisel patrol is leaking it is really bad when the revs are up and dosent leak at all when the engine is off i have tryed looking and cant to seem to find the leak just wondering what your thoughts are can i fix it or take it to some one

Just do exchange for a reco one . Once one seal starts to leak they will all not be far of

depending on where the leak is from?
Mine was leaking out on top roughly 8 years ago. IIRC it was under $100
for a diesel workshop to replace leaking seal.
Another minor leak re-appeared only about year 1/2 or so ago.
Gradually got to a stage where pump was taken off & done up around August of this year when it started to piss out BIG TIME!
retail price for pump rebuild is around $800 mark
Add on remove & replace charge if needed.

its leaking bad once reved up i looked every where for the leak again still cant find it is there much involed in pulling them out,anyone know of a good place i could take to that arnt going to rip me off

funny you mention that you have a leak. I pressure cleaned my engine bay a couple of days ago to help show up any leaks as they appear. Didn't have any before but the advise is to keep it all clean so they are easier to spot.
I must have knocked one of the hoses. I have a fuel line that runs from the banjo bolt going into the injector pump to the third injector. It must have been brittle or something. This is not the injector line and when I removed it I found that it was only a braid sleeved rubber hose. Not made for much pressure at all (only what the fuel sender pump can do). To look at the hose from the outside I would have said there was nothing wrong with it. It wasn't till I started the motor and revved the throttle by hand with my head under the bonnet that I saw diesel dripping through the braided webbing of the hose.
I replaced it with proper fuel line and the problem is solved now.
I'm still trying to work out what that hose is used for but if your injecor pump is similar, have a look.
My mechanic says it is common with brake lines too. They crack on the inside and the webbing hides it.

mine does have the banjo bolt but it has a metal pipe instead of the braided hose so im not sure its got me stumped
it wouldnt hurt it if i still drive it round just hurt my pocket i guess

I think your best bet would be to clean it all up with some degreaser, start the car and have someone under the bonnet and determine exactly where the leak is coming from. I have fixed 2 leaks in mine, One on the top cover and one on the bottom of the pump. All for $30. Bought a seal kit from nissan and did it myself. The top one was a pain though. I have 280,000 and the first leak was 70,000 ago. Eventually i expect i will have to get a reco but i have done an extra 70,000 for 30 bucks. Good luck with it.

i found the leak finally it is coming from a banjo bolt on the top of the injector pump it seems to come from the filter anyway it has 2 copper washers on either side of the fitting , i replaced them now it seems to be leaking again from the same spot is there any other way of fixing it, any ideas would help

get some sandpaper and scuff both sides of the banjo fitting and where it is bolted to the pump and fit with new copper washers, it sounds like there is some crap stopping the banjo for sealing, or just replace the whole piece from the banjo to where the hose goes to, cause that could be leaking down to the fitting

Well. Its funny that YOU should mention that! My brother pointed out diesel on my front diff two days before our last bush trip (2 weeks ago). After the dusty trip, i found #3 injector wet, and a wet patch from it down to the pump, and all over the rear of the pump.
I thought it might have been a high pressure line off the pump's rear, but it turns out that the rubber fuel line as muddytroll mentioned is weeping in several places. Bastard.
I'll handball that to the diesel mechanic in a week or two.
