degalzing
degalzing
Anyone know how to deglaze a bore, witout taking it apart. The diesel i got we pulled out of a import that had done 100,000 kms. Everything else is good execpt one bore is down to 380 psi & the rest are 480 psi. I know japan has really crappy fuel that is very oily and it is not uncommon for the bores (mainly 3 &/or 4) to glaze up, especially as they only do short runs. I have heard of this situation before and once it has been worked hard & with decent fuel has come good. I was gonna take it on a long run and work it up the beach. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Re: degalzing
really good long run will do it the world of good.
not at one constant speed, but just up and down the revs with some hills or load applied help too.. we used to have to do it once a mth with the trucks when I was in RFS... the day after a run from Shitney down to W'gong and back was noticeable...

thanks Bogged. I also saw on a thread about the possibility of a ring sticking in the ring groove and the guy said to put some acetone down the pot, about 100ml to unstick it. Is this true? No Pat, up the beach this weekend. Will start on it next week end as I am still collecting a few bits for the conversion. Is that your way of saying you r goin to help?
I would just give it a good run of atleast 100km with the car pretty heavy. Some hills would be good or just every 5km slow right down to a stop. Then accel back to 100km/h, using the whole rev range (ie over 3500rpm). That should clean it out.
Maybe at the same time have some of that injector cleaner stuff go thru the tank at the same time.
The stuff I use comes in a blue bottle and you get about 1000lt of fuel usage out of it, costs about $8 from most servo's.

Well if it was this weekend yes, next weekend I've got to work again.

old trick use to be sprinkel a tea spoon of bon ame glass cleaner down the intake with the motor reving between 1500 and 2000 rpm to deglase the bore spose ajax cleaner would do the same

You don't really want to rev the thing, just load it up. Put a trailer be hind the truck, chuck in some heavy shit, go for a drive up the towoomba range and just chug it, vary the revs. Some of those injector cleaners also have upper cylinder lubes in them, you dont want that, as well as the problem of dragging water past the filter into your injector pump. An old mate of mine told me years ago he used to run in motors with a dash of kero, although the details of that method escape me at the moment.
Built, not bought.
God of Magnificant Ideas!
