i found a set of 5 33 silverstones for 600 bucks.
i am running 15x7 speedy desert rats with 24mm backspacing i think.
i have also been told that you must run tubes with these tires to and that they are illegal on road.
is this true?
and is this a good price?

I ran mine without tubes no dramas for 6 months before I fitted internal beadlocks.
They are not DOT approved so you may get pinged for them.
5 for $600 is damn good if the tread is OK.
Remember they are really a 31.5" tyre not 33".

I wasn't aware of that. Obviously size is an issue anyway but I never realised they weren't.

Sounds good if theres plenny of tread left!

I just paid $1100 for a set of 4 fitted and balanced.

I got tubes for mine, as that seemed to be the general concensus if you're too cheap for beadlocks.
I got them to try avoid beadleaks from mud and crap.

Awesome tyres offroad too. Very noisy on road.

Not DOT approved? didnt know that either. 33's arent legal anyway are they?

They are bias ply. You can only legally run bias ply tyres on a car that came out with them. Sierras come out with radials, just like most other cars made after ~1950! :D

Wrong and wrong. You can run bias ply tres legally and my Sierra came with them from the Factory.

A little off-topic, but didnt want to start a new thread:

I noticed that when i leave the zook sitting (overnight) and drive it the next day it feels as tho there are flat spots for the first km or so.
Is this anything to do with it being a bias tyre? Only ever had radials before.

Correct Mike, It's because they're Bias. They flat spot and can take a few kms to get back to round.

Steve, is this only for NT's? as i thought all the WTs came out with radials? or does it go on the model history and not specific model.

I thought it didn't matter, as long as all tyres were of the same construction. That's what QLD regs state. Possible state variances of course.
