good to hear mines not the only one at 13l.
Is a turbo supposed to increase or decrease fuel consumption?
ive heard mixed reports so not to sure

think its suppose to theoretically suppose to cut fuel, but if when u drive it hard it uses more, something like that:)

Have you changed your tyres and or pressures ?.
Air filter ok?
How about an oil change?? If its sludging up with soot, it can all add up.
What brand of diesel are you using?
Same outlet, same pump, measure kms to Lts used.
Get some diesel power injector cleaner, and give it a dose.
If you have a turbo, well is it set up correctly for it, does it have a boost compensator etc??

Air filter quality and sooty oil seem to have a huge effect on fuel economy with these engines.
I end up changing my air filter at around 10,000km cos it clogs up so fast over here.
If you have manual hubs are you driving around with them locked or unlocked? I find i get a bit better mileage with mine unlocked and your CV boots will last longer.
Do you do a lot of city or highway driving?
How heavy is your right foot?

If I drive like a pussy i get 9 - 9.5 L, once i got 8.5 per hundy.
If I load it up with 400 kilos and over 1 meter high above the cab - lots of wind resistance. i get at worst 12L but usually more like 11. but again i dont push it as hard as it will go.
I guess the benefit of a car that doesnt go fast is the lack of wind resistance.
some seem to use more than others, same as some seem to go faster than others. how long has it taken to go from 9 - 13?

10.2l/100km intercooled turbo safari kit on 2.8 just broke 45000kms on new motor, still running 31's and i shift all day at 2500rpm unless on highway, oh running 10psi boost. 2.5 straight through exhaust no mufflers.

mine uses about 1L/100km
Oh you mean diesel not oil. Around 11-12L/100km which is pretty much all around town. I would say that 13 isn't excessive but it really depends alot on how you drive

Any updates on your milage yet mate??
usual things to first check are.
tyre pressures. up over 36psi for a start. yeah I know the lux is light blah blah blah. try it.
air filter ok. No birds nest mouse etc in the air ducting to the air filter housing.
oil regularly changed.
Using the same fuel, fuel pump, fill to same spot each time, compare to actual kms traveled since last fill.
what fuel do you use, ive tried alot, the best for me was bp.
Any air leaks in the fuel, check hose clamps from tank to pump, and hose condition. Air leaks can really knock off performance, and up fuel usage.
Run some diesel power, or nulon thru the tank as well?
Let us know.
I get about 8.5-9.5 lts/100km around town.
canopy, 2nd spare wheel, long range tank, dual batts etc.

2nd that on the Diesel Power. I run it in most tank fulls and the engine definatly runs much smoother/quieter and accelerates marginally better.

i have had my bridgestones 31's running on 33 psi and i seem to get a decent amount of k's out of it. I will try running a higher psi 36 - 40 and see what that does for me im probably getting around 10/ 100k's at the moment maybe closer to 11.. steering is manual and all stock and orig on my 89 so its pretty sloppy dunno if that would make it much worse with more or less psi in the tires.. any ideas on that ?

i get around 10L / 100km, and whoever says you can be light on the throttle on a 2.8 is a jackASS

Not a jackass, just a very patient person
I get around 10.5-12.5 L/100km. Typically in the 11-11.5 range when I've corrected kms for tyre size compared to stock tyres.
I'm running 32x11.5 Maxxis Bighorns on the stock 4.56 diff gearing. I run 30psi front and 28psi rear. If I run any harder than that I'll slide off the road at the first corner cos our asphalt is ridiculously low traction. With a light shower it's like driving on ice almost.
At my current tyre pressures I can see the front tyres bagging a bit.
I've recently started using 6oz of Diesel Kleen every other fillup. I've got a 66 litre tank. The engine runs a lot smoother with this stuff in and even feels like it's a bit quicker.
