Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have just been told that Ford Rangers with side airbags can not use seat covers as it effects the side airbag deployment.

Anybody know why???

If the air bag goes off, it won't be able to get past the seat cover.
You would have to cut an opening for it to come through.
