Hey guys, am new here... Was going through the tech threads and couldn't find what i was after...

my front manual hubs are playing up (unlocking and locking as they want when im in 4wd) which isn't fun when towing a wrangler that broke down in the middle of the track... I've had a look at the AVM hubs and they dont make one but i think that the triton one might... has anyone tried this or anyone converted to manual's? I looked at the local wreakers but they only had cars with the auto hubs on them...

thanks in advance.

gday

(you sure you dont mean your auto hubs are locking/unlocking??)

yeah i converted from auto to manual hubs- real bolt on conversion

and the stock mitsubishi hubs you get from the wreackers are heaps better than the ARB avm things- the avm ones are weak and break easy and you pay heaps for them

have a look hear- ive pics up of how i did mine

sweet thanks man. i'll try to have a search at the wreakers oh and why do you say the aisin ones are stronger than the avm ones? according to the sites i've been to the avm ones are used as OEM replacements? I know aisin gear is good just want to know why you said that is all.

I know little about 4wd's but i know about a fair few different brands as i come from modified car background :)

I went the AVM ones as i work in the industry and got a new set for $90 for the pair where as i was hard pressed to find second hand Aisin hubs for less than $100. Haven't had any dramas but only been out once with them since i put them in. The only drama i can see is the plastic "lever: may get weak over time.

IMHO the seals don't work as well as aisen ones. They also wear out in the hub spinning arround the cv all the time. I seem to replace more w/brgs with aftermarket hubs allowing the crap in.
