Gday all,
\
What do you guys reckon would be better, when mounting a set of home made sliders....
a. U bolting to the chassis rail,
b. Welding them to a plate and welding that to the chassis rail, or
c. Bugger the rock sliders, just spend the money on more lift and more rum.

You r better off to weld them to a plate and bolt that to the chassis rail.
I welded mine directly to the chassis, but once on there thats where they stay.

If you weld them to a flat plate long enough for a bolt top and bottom, ypu could make a backing plate and sandwich the chassis between the two.

Thanks Nick and Carl
Since its rego'd in Qld, i'd probably better play the game although..........
My four ( soon to be six ) inch suspension lift is also frowned upon 8)
Soooo.... might just weld 'em and take the hits later !

my steps are mounted by two bolts through chassis with a crush sleeve so the chassis dont collapse, this is the way i would do em.

If you r gunna weld them, make sure you weld them to the plate first or gusset them, because i didn't first and when i landed on a rock heavy it flexed the chassis rail and bent the sills anyway. All sorted now though.

The idea of bolting through the chassis with a sleeve is good but wouldn't they still class that as a chassis mod.

Why not just weld a flat plate of say 10mm to the side of the rail that has 4 holes drill and tapped into it. Then have another plate with four holes drill in it that the bolts go through and into the other four threads. Then just weld your sliders to that.
Means they are removable and nothing hangs under the frame.
