Airtec snorkel on 98+ diesel Rodeo.

I have finally seen out on the road the other day the perfect snorkel. It was the Airtec on a R9 2.8 diesel Rodeo.
Usually snorkels for the Rodeo come all the way along the guard and enter right beside the headlight, which in my opinion look rather poor.

Just wondering if anyone has one of these and can show the entry point into the engine bay. I want to see if it could be customised to fit a V6 model of the same R9 shape.

Timbo,

Do not have one but having seen a few other airtec's, they have a pipe that runs inside the guard (between the guard and engine bay) from the outer snorkel body that exits in the same spot as the air filter in the diesel.

Effectively the same as the safari but just on the inside. Spose what i am trying to say is that the entry point into the engine bay is probably going to be the same.

I have the Safari and it exits smack back level with the air filter inlet.

Cheers

Thanks Rainsey. From the TJM website it says this snorkel was used on the 4cyl petrol and diesel model R7 and R9.

Just gotta see if I can source one for the right price now. The local TJM megastore in hobart have quoted $545 for one :/
I'm hoping for around $450.

I just bought a TJM Airtec for my 02 r9 V6 I paid $500 bucks at bars and racks, I was going to install it my self but the hole saw alone was $110 so for $180 they can do it.

theRobdog, what does it look like? Is it really long and travels the length of the front guard?

This is the one I've been wanting to source. Then custom fit it for the V6.
This guy had to modify the outer skin on the MU guard to get it to sit flush, so it should fit the Rodeo no worries, its just the internal piping I'm not sure of.

Timbo,

Mine runs down the side to the front and yeah I agree it looks pretty average.

I wanted to do what you plan on doing but I have my dual battery right there where the charcol canister (i have relocated it to the drivers side) used to be and its very tight. maybe if you relocated the radiator tank you might be able to plum it up but I found the snorkel has quite a large diameter (almost 100mm).

as for putting it under the guard, it a good idea but again I think the diameter is to large and reducing it is another issue I wouldn't want to take on.

I would be interested to see how you go.

Cheers
