Hi Guys,

I am going to go to a Tag along tour in Tasmania in January. The tour operator told me to install a snorkel professionally.

He says that water depth can sometimes be up to the windscreen. In that case would your car be full of water after you cross the river? If that is the case than its not fun at all, because all your seats, camping gear including yourself would be soaked in water.

Did anyone go through such water crossings and what was your experience?

your doors have rubbers on them to seal it....
fit the snorkel, you will be fine.
if your worried, take a blind for the front with you....

Should you get stuck though, water WILL come in!
I filled my GU up twice, about 1-2" of water over the floor but the river was only that deep. If the river was deeper then the water would've filled up to the same hight

If its a tag along tour I'd say there's very little chance of getting stuck, prolly a river with a nice flat stone surface and hardly flowing.

As mentioned, don't stop in the middle to take pics and the interior should be fine.

I've had shin deep water in my rocky once, and about 2-3" deep on several occasions. Makes the carpet rotten and smelly

i've had my zuk window deep without a snorkel... that was SCARY!!! and i stalled in the middle too... water came in through the doors and through the air vents =) haha

only got up to my knees before i got it started again and drove out... the waterline under the bonnet showed i missed my air intake by about 5-10mm...

GET A SNORKEL.

Yeah if you get a snorkel you should be fine, I have been through water where the water was just below the windscreen which was a bit scary, but if you keep a constant speed and dont change gears while going through the water all is good.

Looking at your pic that's a 100?
Get onto LCOOL and search "Raditator Damage". Once you find the dicussion, get the part numbers and check your fan. If it has a BLUE spot, you'll need to change it, or carry a few spare radiators. The info is all there.

The blue spot fans eat radiators when they get wet (seen three in the last 3 wks in PNG)

Cruiser intakes are VERY good even without a snorkel at keeping water out.
Take a cheap $2 tarp and straps or a prefessional bra to keep some of the water out of the radiator. Mostly a problem at the bottom.

I simply loosen the fan belt or take it off in case of it eating my radiator. only a couple of mins muckin around, safer tho.

i wouldnt trust a professionally installed snorkel after removing mine.

i would suggest a round pipe jobbie with silicon joins, to make sure it really is water proof.

What do you mean by LCOOL?

You recon that after market fan will not cause the damage?

I checked my fan and it has yellow dot on the fan. Infact almost all parts in the car have yellow dots.

The fan is fairly stiff because I tried bending it by hand and it looks like it would brake before it could rich the radiator.

How can I check the part number of the fan?
