Strange short noise when turning corners

Hi Guys,

I have 105 series landcruser, from time to time It produces a short noise in the front of the car.

I have noticed that noise occurs when for example changing gear from 4th to 3rd, especially if I am going litle bit fast for the 3rd gear. Maybe it is just coincidence but I think it almost always happens in corners.

Actually I was offroad few days ago and I was reversing uphill with my front wheels turned to right. Then there was that noise again.

Its very annoying as it happens very intermittently.

I would appreciate if someone gave me some ideas.

Cheers,

Slobo

A clicking? Probably worn CV's. How many km has your cruiser done? full time 4wd model?

not clicking but feels like two pieces of un-lubricated metal just rub against each other for maybe a second and then everything is back to normal.

Yeah it is full time 4wd, done only 170 000

I would have my money on CV joints. They are loaded up more when turning and heaps more when reversing up hills. If you change down a gear (espeshly if at too high rev's) the CVs will again be taking a bit of the load to slow the car down, this would be made worse if your wheels are turned when changing down a gear.

Try tightening the bolts where your radius arms attach to your diff.

While your under there, go over all locators, panhard, etc.
