Well,
LJ71G Bundy is on its way, well import approval was sent about 2 weeks ago so should have it in a week or 2
Here are some pics.... now all i need to decide on what engine to put in it.
3S-GTE is proberbly out due to lack of bellhouseing
1G-GTE / 1G-GZE i am not keen on.
1KZ-TE Current prado and hilux 3.0l turbo D is too expensive !
1HZ landcruiser type engines, again expensive
4A-GE turbo'ed
1JZ-GTE / 2JZ-GTE is a good option, bellhouseing available from Dellow
1UZ-FE is a good option, not sure about bellhouseing but maybe Dellow again.
The xJZ-GTE would be my prefered but the 1UZ would also be good also.
Just thought i would post the pics for all to see anyway.
Pity i couldn't get one with Grey interior like Skip's !!!
But this one is a 60,000kms car, geniun according to books , and besides look at how clean it is.
Thinking of doing conversion before i register it, thought that would make the whole engineering thing easier !

Cheezy - that sounds huge !
How much effort is it to do the 80 series diffs ? I would have thought it would have been a lot ?
Bundytime - I have a friend who finds cars for people in japan. He lives over there in kyushu, i have used him for mainly performance cars like my Evo6 and GTR. He is good but a bit more expensive than some, only goes for the quality stuff.
As a result this one cost just user 400,000 yen including his fee. Approx $5000. To that you add 15% duty, and shipping, import approval, and 10% GST. + the engineering items like mirrors.
Car - $5000
Duty - $750 (Duty being based on the amount of invoice, so you do the figures and it can be reduced a bit. hint hint)
Import approval - $50
Shipping - $1200 (will be less but thats just a max type figure i am using here)
GST - $700
Engineering & Mirrows etc.. couple of hundred.
Total Cost = Approx $7800
Then you have rego on top of that.
So its not cheap but it is decent value if the vehicle is good. And thats the key i guess. Problem is good cars dont come up that often, atleast not ones that he considers good. Heaps of average ones every week but i only wanted one in really good condition like this 62,000kms example.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info.
15 year rule could be about to be changed so its a matter of dive in right now ! or wait to see that it doesn't get changed.
Riggers - was it a LJ71G the 2.4 turbo, with the R151F gearbox the strong one ? or the 22R with G52 i think gearbox which is no good for any conversions i dont think anyway.
$3000 is cheap, great deal if its deccent condition.

Looks sweet, body is probably cleaner than mine. Do you know what diffs it has? Hopefully you got the 4 pinion LSD, I only got 4 pinion open wheeler, ive got a 4.3 ratio change in the pipeline. I think a *JZ is the way to go, even better the 2JZ if you can afford it. I dont know how a 1UZ will fit but i can most definitely tell you a 1JZ will, if youve got any conversion queries let me know.
Oh yeah to get mine registered in WA, all i had to do was change the drivers side mirror to flat, you will find a bolt on mirror from troopies and even landies, mine come off a troopie or HZJ ute, im not too sure.

I beleive my has LSD's front and rear !
But i wont be able to confirm till its here.
Its soposed to be top spec unit. Apart from that i know little except its really clean.

It should have LSD in the rear, probably not in the front.

Just incase anybody reading this thread was interested in what normally needs to be done for 15 year old complaince.
Sash belts for rear seats
Sun visors
Child restraint points on the rear parcel shelf
High level brake light
Catalytic convertor
Driver's side mirror changed from convex to flat
Unleaded fuel filler opening restrictor
Side intrusion bars
Dash dimmer switch
Engineer's sign-off
Of course not everything will need to be done in every car.
Also looking at the cin plate in the car it appears maybe mine doesn't have LSD's, G144 diffs, so 8" and 4 pinion non lsd diffs. Wonders if factory lockers were an option.

I think Mebourne's laws on 15yr olds are a bit more strict than WA, depends on the inspector too i think.
Your diff is the same as mine, G144 open wheeler. Im pretty sure factory lockers werent an option going by my Japanese Manual, but things like PTO winches were.
