Just wondering if anybody has cleaned out a diesel tank before?
What did you use(cleaning products) and how?
Thanks

I'm guessing you want to clean out the diesel so you can run petrol???

A couple of litres of metho and shake vigorously.

What is in the tank, you talking rust/scale or just a bit of fuel??
If your talking dirt rust/scale, I'd clean out with 5ltr petrol or metho..

If its only fuel, drain what you can, and get up with a rag what you can, just fill with petrol, the few cc's of diesel will dilute away....

If it is surface rust I was advised by a tank manufacturer to rinse with boiling water then use a product called Metal Ready. Thouroughly rinse the inside with this and drain.

Thanks and yes judging by the filter it must be full of slime and rust. I have been having a lot of fuel issues so I thought cleaning the tank would be a start and flushing the lines would be next. Thanks for your help and I'll see what happens.

If there is slime is the fuel you may have an algae growth in the fuel. The tank and fuel lines will need to be thoroughly cleaned and dried.
Metho is best to absorb any moisture.
