Dash/Instrument Cluster problem - TD42 GQ

Hi all.

I drove to work thismorning with no issues, as per normal. At lunchtime i went to go to the hardware shop, and realised that my tacho, speedo, an temp gauges aren't working anymore!

The fuel gauge is working (as they do), but as soon as i put the ignition to ON, the temp gauge flicks all the way over to the right (past the actual HOT bit), and while driving the tacho and speedo just sit in their stopped positions.

All other electrical stuff works. I've checked the fuses under the kick panel, the ones beside the battery, and had a general look around the engine bay for burnt/rubbed through wires - but found nothing.

The last thing to check before i start pulling it apart is the three connectors on the cluster. These could be the problem as i had it out last week - but the car copped an absolute hiding from friday arvo through to monday arvo 4wding, and i cant understand how something could have come loose while driving across a bitumen carpark.

Any help appreciated!

Ok. I pulled the dash to bits last night and checked all of the wiring under there.

When i put it all back together - it all came good. I suspect that there was a loose pin on one of the multi-plugs behind the instrument cluster, as all three connectors were plugged in firmly.

Cheers!

yea the odometer on mine had a bit of an intermittant fault, i ended up cutting the plug off and soldering the wires directly to the pins, then using heatshrink on each wire - But that is only a 4 or 5 pin plug within the instrument cluster i.e. i can still pull the plugs from the back and take the instument cluster out.
They probably get some crap in the plugs now and then and could use some contact cleaner or similar.
