80's transfer cases ?

g'day , i am doing an engine conversion to my 80 series and want to know if i take my transfer case off my manual box and put it on an auto would i still be able to change from hi range to low range now that i won't have a clutch ? and would it fit up to the auto anyway ?

It will fit behind the auto, but no you won't be able to change from lo to hi on the go as you can't take enough load off the t/case, i.e. too much drag from the auto.

thanks that is what i thought . but if i stop , put in neutral or park then i should be able to change from hi to low shouldn't i .

when you want to change from low to high put the auto into neutral change it to high and change to drive again my missus auto does it
toyota 80#,d/cab ute chop,6" springs,20mm body lift, 315/75/16 muds, and 39" michelin XML play tyres , turbo 4.2 1HZ top mount intercooler diesel.now ENGINEERED.

thanks ,thats what i was hoping otherwise i would need to put a part time kit in the gxl trasfer that came with the auto
