Head Problem?

I was considering using the head off my old motor.
In case it was a better one to do up for my present motor.
Upon removing it, I decided against it.
I am not surprised that it wasn't running very well, just before it died.

That should be fine Chris.
It will need at least one new valve, maybe a set but it looks serviceable to me.

from what i had read on redline it was actualy 9000rpm it let go at..

but g13b's are similar to a 4age in the fact that they will rev to above 9000rpm in standard form.. probably not for long tho!

While we're talking about redline ... I have a very noob question. I've always treated redline with the greatest deal of respect, and normally wouldn't push past 5500rpm. I'd usually only hold 4500rpm and under for sustained periods. But people always say 'Zooks love to rev'.

So what does redline actually mean for a G13? Is it a do-not-cross-on-peril-of-engine-blowup threshold, or a point that you can blast to but shouldn't exceed, or the maximum revs that the engine is actually comfortable revving at all day long?

Think I might be babying mine a bit :D but would hate to do damage.....

i used to drive my old one to 6k every day pretty much... and hold it at 7500 in the mud.. no issue...

motor lasted 3 years at that :)

all depends on how u like to drive i guess!

here is a post from "9000rpm" himself stating....

A wise old man (dmwdave) once told me that these engines can take being regularly revved to 8,000 quite happily. It's when you rev them to 9,000 that things will break (see thread by 9000rpm ...)

Actually at 10,500 rpm my stock crank broke... so be warned!

you can find it in this thread:

http://www.redlinegti.com/forum/viewtop ... a&start=20

here is a video that i did in my own car and it sees this regularly:

if you search for other vids by me , i also drag race this car with a 75 shot of nos and have never had a breakage except for this:

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=kQWQnMgMvaE

it was a nitrous explosion in my intake and the only damage was the rubber intake tube exploded , i taped it up and drove home.
