Pull the float out & put it in some petrol, if it sinks its buggered (not so common these days with plastic floats).
Replace the needle & seat, this is a main cause of flooding. It might look ok but may not be sealing properly. Make sure you set the drop as well as tha closing setting properly.
When you change the needle & seat, check the fuel pressure, if it is too high it will push fuel past the needle & seat.

They wear a notch on the float where the needle contacts, it you bend the lever so the contact is in a different spot or buy a new float, mostly happens on duel fuel vehicles.
Need to maintain the correct fuel level if you go bending things though.

Do not buy an aftermarket needle and seat!!! I did this and it flooded so bad i was scooping a couple of cup fulls of fuel out of the air box. The genuine one has a wire piece that goes around the needle and holds the float. Check this is in place otherwise it'll flood like buggery. I bought the complete overhaul kit from autobarn or the likes and it cost around $70 but the needle and seat alone were $50. Use genuine needle and seat and you wont have trouble. hope this helps!
This relates to my GQ tb42
