2000 MK triton V6

G'day, all. The missus and I have found a 2000 model MK Triton GLS for sale, around the $13000 mark with 170,000kms on the clock. The exterior is rough, but the driveline seems really smooth during a drive, no rattles on cold start, etc.
Dumb question - is there any weaknesses we should specifically get checked out? I've heard the gearboxes in these aren't the strongest, but I don't think that's a problem as it seems to be a country car, rather than a rock-hopping machine. Clutch seems good, slots into gear nicely, the usual.
The guy who's selling it knows nothing about the history, but the little he does know seems to be backed up by the car itself.
Any recommendations, guys? If this all comes off, I'll get some pics.
Lindsay.
