Well Victorians Bush Users,
The time has come, the government is now trying to make Victoria like NSW and QLD,
they want to close all our tracks. This goes for everyone, 4wd's, bike & quad riders, horse riders, even walkers
Many may have noticed the closure of alot of Womabat forest, well this is the model for their closure plan.
SO, We all must turn out to say
"NO" (for want of a better word).
TUESDAY 23RD MARCH
R.S.L. HALL, CENTERWAY, GREYTHORN

We will definately be there, if we don't fight now, all could be lost and we will all end up on private property and lose all the great tracks in Victoria. Come on everyone, lets all put in our bit and fight for our recreation. We have to get the word out to EVERYONE!
Anyone who is seriously interested in our sport will be there to support it.

Hey guys\gals, don't forget to yell and stomp a lot else be ye like oldie NSW, recreation areas everywhere. One small catch, no recreation allowed within the recreation areas. Some half brain thinks it should make us all feel good just knowing it is there

i hate that! they say SAVE IT FOR OUR CHILDREN, stuff our kids i wanna enjoy it! its not hurting it anymore if your still driving on the tracks that are already there.

Posted: Mon Mar 22, 2004 8:58 pm
by bad_religion_au
yeah, save it for our children, meanwhile we'll build a toxic waste dump over there, and cut all that old growth forest out over there, so we can fund our own retirement package, which is better paying than most the poor sobs that we represent can earn in a life time

A mate up here in the Snowy Mountains works for the National Parks and Wildlife Service. He reckons (off the record) that the NPWS would spend about half the amount maintaining tracks if they were opened that they do repairing the gates that people (mainly pig shooters) destroy. The latest trend seems to be to drive an excavator in to rip the gates which are now largely built out of old railway tracks out of the ground.
Just about all the public tracks that are open around here can be driven in 2 wheel drive with a camper trailer on behind by a ricer. For the sake of a weekend, do your bit to prevent the same fate being inflicted on Victorians . . . if for nothing else than to ensure that there is still good wheeling close to Melb when I come home to visit the olds!

yeah thats pretty true.
i heard one of their reasons were because of OH&S and that they cant maintain tracks over 15* steep.

Is it my suspicious mind, but do others think this could be a perfect occasion for Vicroads and the Bacon to have a 'roadblock' setup to check out roadworthys on 4wds??

That is why I will take the company unroadworthy truck.
Passes without a front bar or mudflaps.

generally it costs more to shut a track down permantely than it does to keep it open.

Yeah, but Parks Victoria claim the opposite, it costs more to keep tracks open with regular maintenance than the close it with a gate!

And you can make $$$ off a closed track with fines ...
I hope that the 4wd community can put forward a united front and fight this... we give up to many things without a fight ..

i went and had no idea what the hell was goin on. who was that big guy up the back in the suit?
and it was only about wombat, not places like dissa or toolangi.
i just wanna be able to drive on the tracks that are there, i dont wanna mess up anything else eccept the occasional tree that gets in my way.
but the greenies are too Grimace for that, they want no one to have fun, except they are allowed to smoke as many trees as they feel.

Unless you guys can work-out deals like we have to do up here (NSW). The clubs do some work for parks and wildlife in return for "SOME" access. This might just be a quick clean up but there have been times when walking tracks were getting over-grown so clubs have been asked to drive along the walking tracks a few times (though I hear this is the expection). If they are talking total lock-out then that sucks big time
