Aurion v6 in sierra

Have been building up a 97 sierra for a while, now its time for an engine.
Was thinking it would be great to have the 200kw aurion v6 under the bonnet, alot of power i know! Is this as crazy as it sounds? and what sort of gearbox is best suited? would prefer to keep it manual

yes it is as crazy as it sounds. Everything in the driveline would need changing and the work involved to actually make the engine even fit would be daunting. Also aren't they an east/west engine and fwd?

Yep, east west
Interestingly enough I was wondering just the other day about how fun it would be to have my non-V VTI 3L V6 quadcam engine from my 01 camry daily drive in the vitara. Its got loads of bottom end so would go great. Don't know if a transmission exists for a N/S conversion, what the weight would be or if the dimensions even allow it, but its fun to dream.
Edit. How about a cosworth YB series 2L (150kw NA/ 200+ turboed and already north south). That would be fairly unique. Do you think Transport dept would notice that the motor was from a FORD sierra not a SUZUKI sierra?

have you got over 15,000 ? i can't see you finding a wrecked aurion and the warrantly price for the bar engine with no electronics was 15,000 when i replaced one in februaru thourhg work.
it had inhaled a whole heap of water BANG 1

The motor itself should be easy to set up for north south ( prado, hilux, whatever mounts, trim, gearbox, clutch, starter etc.
It's just a terrible idea to try and put that much motor in a sierra.
Apart from fit, cooling and weight, you'll have to strengthen the rest of the driveline to about hilux strength, increase spring rate to about hilux rate and everything else that goes with it.
I don't even think the 2.0/2.5/2.7 suzuki V6 is a good idea for a sierra for the fit, weight and heat issues.
I think everyone contemplating some sort of big motor in a sierra should drive a G16B efi converted sierra. IMHO around 100hp (76Kw) seems to be a nice number - it will cruise at an easy 100 with whatever tyres you like but it's not scary under power or breaks stuff.

hey the only thing that the aurion motor shares with the hilux's is the GR in the engine code thats it there two completly different motors and electrics are a nightmare the computer wont run without the transmission
i say forget the aurion and find a 4.0lt wrecked lux and swap everything over get a front and rear axle outta an older lux cause the new axles are wider,
with a modified ECU you can push out more power from a 4.0lt than the aurion and the TRD lux (pulled back alot because of tree huggers)

And for all that effort, just buy a Hilux and do an engine swap.

Hijack -
by all accounts, the weight and bulk of the hemi (let alone cost and availability) makes it a less desirable option than the LS series.
I've seen some interesting tech on this on Pirate.

I agree with drive a zook with an inj1.6, or even a GTi. They don't have they power for much above 130kph in top but who need it? I can drag off most fourbies with my GTi motor if you like that kinda thing and it does everything else fine.

Pfffft forget Gen4's 454 is where the torgue's at....

Just get an oldschool hemi 454 then maybe supercharge it.
It will make some massive power, and if everything is reinforced and strong enough to handle the power.
You will still be doing backflips.
Lay off some of those magic mushies for awhile

Apparently around US$16,000 for the motor.
2 Litre, 320BHP, V8.
74KG, and a whole lotta goodness!

what is soon to be reality? An Aurion engine in a Zuk or a Hemi?
The Hemi has been done by some guys in the States in the Ultimate Adventure in their LWB Sierra

that lwb is fawkin nice
if you really want power in a sierra, put a rotary in it. it'll fit easy, and big power is possible.
it's a stupid idea, but not as stupid as a gen3 or aurion motor

thanks for the replys, i think! true i didnt think about this to much at all. I came back from a mates place who runs an aurion twin turbo v6 in his buggy well worth 60k an engine (so im told) and though how cool would a stock one be in the siera. He also offered me an engine at a good price. I though about it up to the point where i know holden v6s and autos have been done so how much more work would this be. I've put chevs in rangies and understand the messing around it takes to get things right. I already have lux diffs ready to go in. It might be expensive but I was planning on keeping it and enjoying it.
