The Carby is sh$#g me.
I can get hold of a 87' JE Holden Camira cheap ($50) and thinking . I have been told the camira computers can be reprogrammed easily and would I be able to make fit the whole inlet manifold onto my G13BA. I don't mind using a grinder or die cutter to make it fit, just wondering if anyone rekons this might work.
Any ideas??
cheers

i have also heard this. i used to have a JE and the whole injector assembly looks good for adaptation. i didn't look into it in that much detail though.

That is what I have heard myself. Does anyone else know better??

Just about anything that came with a Delco unit can be recalibrated using Kalmaker software and adapters ,
http://www.amberleyautos.com.au/KALMAKER.htm
There is a few sites on it this is just one , they actually have a forum on the stuff somwhere !

I think fitting the manifold would be difficult due to the water jackets in the zuk but never looked closely at camira/pulsar manifold. cut/nshunt the injectors and throttlebody onto the zuk manifold though for sure.

Is there a Multi point injection manifold from a zook that will fit the 1.3? If so you dont have to run the Camira injectors.

I think I get this. Use a std intake manifold? and use the camira throttle body and cut/shunt the rams as such to the zook manifold?.

If you go this way you can actually buy machined alloy Injector mounts so you just drill the stock manifold and have them welded in. Most good custom performance shops should be able to supply the mounts to suit the bosch injectors that come in Camiras.
The other thing with using the delco computer is that there are about 10 different cars you can remove the computer from swap the chip which just unplugs and use the computer. It doesnt have to be a computer from a camira. Injectors are interchangable as are the Map sensors.

I still would not do this however. my suggestion is, the setup I built, a tbi unit and manifild off a vitara, all bolt on stuff. It is more than enough to fuel my 1.3 with a T3 turbo. The delco would be cool depending on cost of setting up. You can buy old programable computers for less than $200.

Just thinking a delco would probably not run a single injector. all the guys I know that have bought the vitara tbi have got it for less than $400 and some with computers.

Happily pay the $400 for computer and manifold if anyone has got one... I've been quoted $900.
The TBI Manifold itself you can usually get for about $300 or less.
Aftermarket programmable computer would be the best bet, or you could adapt the TBI to just be a throttle body and use MPI which is way better anyway.

I can get the TBI with all bits for $450 inc body and manifold.
Just was thinking as I can get a whole camira for about $50 as the engine is stuffed.
Oh well, just more padding thoughts.
cheers

drop in the camira engine and find a box to suit. or convert the sierra box. $50 Might be worth looking into if it will adapt to a sierra 5speed then these would make bloody cheap conversions with more than enough grunt. you get efi pump & possibly a bigger fuel tank as well.

Pity the engine is stuffed in the bottom end knock and top end corroded.
Otherwise I have thought of this. Its an auto as well. (Oops Its also FWD so I ahve to use another box.

Not that you will get one here But --- aparantly fam 2 ,2ltr was used in ----
Vn comodes in NZ errrrrr so there must be a rwd auto case that suits
But Really I think you should say a dozen hail marys and promise this thought won,t enter your head agian heheh
Then on the other bit , Is the thing fitted with the port injection or the tbi unit , if i remember there was the two different types on these things depends on model , somone correct me if im wrong but the later is just a replacment for a carby ,. So you should be able to just make an adapter plate for you manifold and bolt it on then get the mem done,
And a question for poeple if you where able to buy a kit ,
That enables you to get el cheapo bits like the camira inj bits ,and the kit
comprised of an adapter plate for carb ,and Air cleaner, Wiring diagram
and mem Chip pre programed to suit your application ,
Sierra ,hilux, mq, sheep, ect
Would poeple Buy somthing like this ?
So in nicbears case, he would recieve a carton with :
JUNKYARD DOG MFG .
SIERRA TBI ADAPTER KIT.
1x carb to tbi adapter plate
1x tbi to air cleaner adapter for sierra
1x wiring diagram sierra to camira delco tbi
1x re: written memcal to siut .
2x Junkyard Dog decals.
ATTENTION THE CONTENTS OF THIS CARTON
ARE USED FOR OF ROAD PURPOSES ONLY,
AND MAY CONTRAVIEN LOCAL AND FEDERAL EPA RULES
USE AT OWNERS OWN RISK .
WARNING A VEHICLE FITTED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL NOT STALL
WHEN INVERTED ,IT IS WISE TO TURN ENGINE OFF WHEN INVERTED
FOR MORE THEN 5 SECONDS,OTHER WISE PERMENANT DAMAGE MAY
RESULT .

If it works I would be interested. Sounds sweet.
Should fit into a VB carton and still room for a sixpack.
Going to check out the camira today so can update later.

I have never had engine management tuned etc. but the camira thing is an option for me too. Anyone give a rough price range for getting the camira gear remapped etc for a custom application like this? Talking 100's or 1000's etc
And Nicebear
A 6 pack of VB might still fit but what would you want one for? To wash your car? Don't you have a hose?

Port fuel injection and tbi (throttle body injection) is the same thing.

Oh I was under the impression Tbi was throttle body injection, as in injectors x 2 on throttle body,.
MPI and port injection where in 4cyl application ,4xinjectors direct into each port just before valve .mmmmm

hi had a talk with a mate and he said the astra holden has the same engine as camira and there is a few of them around

Guys,
Just a couple of points to note. the Astra only had the 1.8 which was TBI it was the 2lt that has the MPI. As for the mapping of the Delco units. I put Camira injection on a 2lt escort and it worked quite well. You don't have to use the Kalmaker software to do it as this tuff is quite expensive. I have some files somewhere that work with the Winbin program. This will allow you to modify the fuel and igniton maps and burn them to a chip. you them put the chip in and check the changes and go again. Time consuming but quite cheap. I would highly recommend aftermarket inject though as I have just picked up a WOLF 2D for my zook for $250 and I will be injecting it after the Townsville ASCC round. The only other question that I have is does the MPI manifold from the Vitara bolt onto the 13B head or is it only the TBI manifold??
Cheers
