Waterproofing rear tailgate - Rodeo

Hey all,

Just fitted an ARB canopy to replace my canvas one. Whilst the canvas one was relatively open, it did cover the gap between the tailgate and the tub thus stoping any water ingress.

The new ARB unit, while being tighter than a fishes but around the perimeter, is somewhat disapointing at the actual tailgate.

Has anyone gone to the trouble of trying to seal up the tailgate with ruber or the likes to stop any water entering the tub. If you have I would love to know how you handled it.

Cheers

Rainsey

Hey Rainsey,

I did my RA tub using a stick on foam rubber that comes in a role from "Clark rubber" Apparently it is a common request!

If you have a TF or R9 the tail gate should have a lip all the way around and you can by the correct slip on rubber trim from the same place.

Hope this helps,

Gday Rainsey, are you trying to stop ingress from water crossings? Cos I doubt you'll get a perfect seal around the tailgate.
As for rain, look out for the front top corners of the tub, most Rodeos have a small gap there where rain can find its way in.
I found the best way to stop rain and most dust is to have positive pressure in the tub and my Flexiglass canopy has a small sliding window at the front of it. Yours will have one too. I leave it fully open all the time and although when it pours no rain goes in there but it keeps 99% of dust from sucking in through the tailgate.

Cheers, Dave
