TD42 to TB42 Engine swap

Ok Guys

Been doing a bit of looking around and i can get myself a TB42E with a gas kit quite cheap atm from a rolled patrol

What i am interested in, i have a TD42 atm (yeah i know what people are gunna say) and to be honest, its a great motor, but not for my style of driving, i am hard on the loud pedal and like acceleration, my old TB42 had it, this diesel is a slug and i don't like it, plus i like gas, its my prefered fuel.

Will the TB42 engine bolt to the TD42 bellhousing or do i need to swap them out? i am prepared to use the TD42 starter (more grunt) if i have to but just wanted to know if it will bolt up without any mods

Next is the engine mounts, are the TB42 and TD42 mounts on the chassis the same or do they have to be cut and welded, if i have to use the TD42 mounts on the TB42 that's cool as they are 4 bolt type and would prefer that if the TB42 runs 2 bolt.

Any info from guys who have done this would be great. also where does the wiring loom for the ECU go into the cabin? from the drivers side or the passengers side?

just sell your diesel for a good price and buy a petrol. Heaps of people out there want diesels. Less headaches then.

yea i'll second that, petrol gq's are cheap as chips, buy one transfer your bits over then sell yours, should have enough left over to buy the other stuff you want.

not with how i have battered her, she ain't worth enough to sell off the diesel and get the cash back, and considering i have access to a TB42E and gas system already, i wanna do it this way.

bellhousings are the same sort of.... the bellhousing bolts line up but the starter is a different bolt pattern.

from my research the engine mounts are the same. but i might have been mistaken as i had 2 bolt engine mounts... i then went a V8

the engine i have access to is the later TB42 with the 4 bolt mounts

just looking if its the same on the chassis, can't tell

if i can will use the TD42 starter to crank the TB42 over, sound like a diesel when cranking but fire as a petty, was thinking V8 but can't really afford it, would love a 308 red under the bonnet on straight gas using Gas Research equipment

the only reason i went for an 8 over turbo 6 was because there were no tb's for under $1500 with less than 200Ks so i went the 8

hi,
I have completed many swaps the other way so the changes are as follows:
Bellhousing (diesel has a three bolt starter)
Complete loom (enters drivers side and pull the dash out)
If your engine mounts are 2 bolt then you need to just swap them onto the petrol motor as petrol and diesel mounts are the same.
If your td42 is non turbo exhaust will be fine
Remove your extra fuel lines running to the filter and also vacuum lines.
Interested in selling your motor and stuff you pull off it?
I could do you a aprt deal by completing the swap for you?

as soon as i get the motor the TD42 will be coming out and going on sale that's for sure.

as long as i can get it all working i will be happy,
