Has anyone thats rebuilt a TD42, ever replaced the cam bearings? Is it a difficult job?
Also wondering why Nissan only specify a part# for the front bearing and nothing for the rest? Do they expect you to LINE-BORE the remaining shells to fit :-(

When i rebuit my 4.2 i got the engineers to fit the cam bearing when they machined the block,i didn't have the tools to do the bearings so it was much easier to have them do it...
Putting in new bearings you will have to check for gaps, thickness, play and all those pain in the but things...i dont no of to many people to have the right gear to check that on the cam shaft...
How much of a rebuild are you doing....just the cam or the lot.if your doing the lot you would be better of getting it done like i did...

Will be installing new cylinder liners/pistons /rings/bearings etc and was going to get cam bearings done as well. I was planning to get the shop to replace the cam bearings but couldnt work out why Nissan only specify 1 part# for cam bearings. Can only assume you have to line bore the remaining ones to get clearances right. How much of the re-build did you do yourself?
