Patrol diffs under Lux

Did a trial fit of the Patrol diff under the Lux on the weekend  . The Patrol axles are about 230mm wider than the Lux. I'm chasing ideas as to how to cover the front tyres without impacting on articulation. I don't think any of the moulded flair type products are going to cover the tyres.

Does anybody know of another way to add flairs or does someone make a fiberglass guard that is already pumped?

Hypolux is already doin the same setup with his being later model its already slighter wider in body than the early mods.... with his lux setup ifs hub spacers and 1,1/2 wheel spacers on front and ifs rear housin and the same wheel spacers and cruiser offset rims he had a big area to cover ( will be slighter wider again with pootrol diffs) wen he competed at Nissan trials he fitted conveyoer belt for wheel coverage ..... i myself thought it would look like stuff that hypo normally duz GAY :D but it looks farken sweet as so take a look at his members section i think theres some updated piccys in there or check the old nissan trials thread

Thanks Hypolux

Yeh i don't mind the look of those guards. Where did you get the conveyor belt from?

I've also looked at Zol's 1st Gen and am going to get onto him and find out about his guards.

I'm going to run all Patrol suspension. It will be a direct copy of GU wagon. That's unless someone here has a better idea. I already have all the bits to do the rear and am starting to gather the stuff to do the front.

just another idea for the flares, you can buy black garden edging stuff from bunnings, comes on a 6m roll, for $25 and is 150mm wide. its not very flexable so its better to make them removable for the trail, this can be done easily with press studs and or zip ties or wingnuts

have a look in bigsteve's build up thread for how he did his ;)

Will copying the Gu work im pretty sure the hilux chassis is narrower then gu trailing arm spacing ???? prob could be done im just thinkn out loud !!!

I have measured the Patrol chassis and the Hilux chassis, the Patrol is 110mm wider than Hilux. I intend to run the rear end of the upper trailing arm on the inside of the bracket on the diff then make up and weld another support to pick up the inside of the bush. This will effectivly move the arm inboard by the width of the mount on the diff. Does that make sense?

Steering box will be GU patrol if it fits, it looks huge sitting next to the chassis. If that doesn't fit it will most probably be Navara.

Good point about the fuel tank, I hadn't even thought about that. I intend to run on gas as the 18R starts to starve of fuel when you get to about a 45 deg angle. I will look at a gas tank that will work with the mounts in place.

I intend to move the axle forward about 2-3 inches as the 35's are hitting on the rear of the wheel arch at the moment.

Have you moved your axle forward and what steering box are you running?

Yeah that makes sense ...r u goen to mount trailing arms on chassis similar to nissan style ???

How do you think the trailing arm length will be as a the chassis of a hilux with say 4 inch of lift and 35s will b a bit higher than a nissan chassis or are u goen to mount em under chassis ...

I ran a 75 series box moved as far forward on the rail as it could go

diff is about 4 - 5 inches forward
