My 80 1HDT is running like a steam train when warmed up and has a rough as guts idle through to 1200 rpm the whole engine moves bout two inches side to side and its not an engine mount as its smooth as silk when cold any ideas as the mechanics seem to be guessing. It does have a new hiflow turbo recoed injectors and pump thinkingit could be valve clearences incorrect, mechanic suggests mismatch between pump and injectors seems like bs to me if there set up right

It could be a number of things, start with basics and work your way through the list.
Running like a steam train, do you mean it has a lot of blowby?

just a stab in the dark, but do you have any new fuel lines running anywhere hot? dont know about diesels but fuel vapourisation on petrols happens if the lines get hot, all i could think of that would only be there when its warm, maybe your new turbo's making things hot that never used to be or a heat shields been removed or something. also when it does it try taking the fuel cap off maybe a breather's blocked. like i say just stabs in the dark but easy enough to check

Don't know who set the pump up but the timing could be out. When it's cold (Warming up) combustion temps will be lower than when at operating temp so when it's cold it's burn is delayed enough to give a smooth idle and low rev's however when it's at operating temp it's burning to soon giving it a rough idle as it's firing too soon once rev's pick up you won't notice it as much untill it goes away due to engine speed. It's much like timing a petrol engine only you set the pump not the spark timing.
The 1hdt has cross flow head so exhasut is other side of the head and diesel boils at a higher temp than petrol. With valve clearance i'd be thinkming it would continue to run rough at any rpm as it will be loosing comperssion or not alowing enough flow depending on too much/little clearance

thanks for the info pump timing issupposedly set right and injectors are being shimmed to suit the pump pressure should have the rig back tommorrow so ill no then
