Timing cover damage

The plastic timing belt cover has worn thru in several places due to a bolt coming loose and rubbing on pulley. Is it worth replacing with a new one, or just shove the old one back on with some coon and not worry about it, as dirt can get in anyway even on a new cover, so i think the old one might do, will it?
You can buy new ones for a pineapple

:rofl:
Pineapple = $50.

2nd hand should be less than half that at wreckers but I'm sure there are hundreds laying in members sheds. Ask around, you'll probably get one for a 6 pack or less.
