h.i.d radio interference

i bought a axis radio antenna the other day and mounted it on my bar, it works great but when i turn the hid's on the sound goes fuzzy its not to bad with just the head lights but with the spotties are on u cant understand anything, anyone had this problem? :bad-words:

The HID balast will cause interrence if it is mounted too closely or if wires run to close to the coax or antenna.
It works very similar to an ignition system.

Should only cause a problem when the ballasts are heating up. Once you reach full brightness the static should go.

And yes - keep the coax as far away from ballasts as possible..

yeah i thought i would go away when it heats up but im pretty sure it stays there, ill try and mount the aerial some where else

Whilst moving the coax cable, Grab some sheilding cable and place it over both the radio ariel coax cable, as well as the high tension leads from the ballast to the bulb. Run an earth/ground wire from the sheild back to the chassis/body or battery. This should eliminate the majoirty of the noise.
Can get this sheilding cable from any decent electrical wholesale shop, TLE, Rexel. Even Farnell and RS Components should have it.
