How Much Boost

I have a DTS turbo on my 99 hilux 3.0Ltr Diesel (Mechanical Injection)
On the dyno it gets 76Kw(103HP) With 10Psi boost
Any idea of a max pressure to run?
Thinking of going to 14psi.....
Any suggestions

I just put the DTS kit that Guts sold on my 2.8 and got it tuned as well as getting a boost compensator thingy on the pump. I thought it was good b4 the tune, but what a difference it made. The shop set it at 11psi and said it could go more if I really wanted to. You should be able to get closer to 100kw.

Thanks Phippsy,
When i got it tuned on the dyno they wanted to take it back to 8psi?
I said no, I thought i should be getting more power out of it, a mate has the same kit on his 2.8 and he beats my truck (maybe the 2.8 is more efficient?) does your truck overheat at high speeds? (120km's high for my bitch anyway, it starts to approach the red)

I was getting fair up it last night on the highway cruising at 100-120 up & down hills, and the temp. needle didn't move. I get an extra 1000 revs easily in the rev range over b4. I used Highway Diesel to tune it, they wer really helpful and said they would generally go to 12psi on the 2.8 because of head issues these engines have (apparently).
They also told me they did it for another guys 2.8 and he got it dyno'd at 103kw!!

running 8psi on my 2.8 and no signs of getting hot.. at any speed.. cruisin at 120 down the highway, or wheeling in low range for hours.. stays right on half way all the time...
i would look at intercooling it before going any higher with boost.. especailly if its over heating already.. is the radiator clean and full??

One of they guys i used to work with was running 14 pound boost with his turbo intercooled hilux. His main problem was 1 motor 4 gearboxes and 3 diff centers in around 100 000

Juss my two cents but I have been led by 2 mechanics and 1 turbo mechanic that anything over 10 pound on these is not a wise move.

ahaha your view is like mine... drive the 2.8 into the ground then go a v8.. already got 220 thousand on it, and has had the turbo since about 40 thousand.. once its up over 300 i will be ready for a v8 anyways and might wind the boost up just for a few months of fun!

a guy a i knew ran 21psi on his 2000 model 3 litre diesel for 12 months before he sold it. it drove with foot flat to the floor everywhere to. no troubles at all.
it pushed 35'' tyres as faster than my standard 3 lt diesel lux with 31's.
