3 vs 5 link

If you were doing a conversion what would be best a 3 link or 5 link front.

I think the 3 link will be easier to fit without a doubt.

Which one flexs or performs better for a daily driver that sees some hard stuff on the weekends I want much better than IFS flex and to fit 35s, but not comp spec, just hardcore weekend play. So I think a 3 link would suit but need some input please.

Opinions please.

some engineers prefer standard 3 link on the front, but depends on how you go about it.

for a daily driver i would go 80/100 series radius arm setup on the front.

Many vehicles need a certain amount of roll-stiffness in the front to keep the handling safe.
Radius arm front suspension gives you that. With a 4 link and panhard you may need a swaybar up front to keep it drivable and for stability on side-slopes.

Like Kiwibacon said, take a look at the size swaybar a standard jeep rangler needs, there huge to compinsate for the front 5 link.

i think a 3 link panhard (like the rock crawlers use) is pretty freakin stable on side slopes.

if i built it better on flynns car it would have been awsome at speed too.... except for the shit shocks.

but for simplicity the 80s front setup is the best.

Thanks 80s setup was my plan, are you all saying that these do not need a stabiliser bar?

That would make the job even easier.

another vote here for the 80 series 3 link on a solid hilux axle.

heck even a custom arm 3 link would do the job.

imho, the 3 link front end vehicles are always more stable and safe in any conditions compared to a front/rear 5 link vehicle. so what if you dont have massive flex...its not a comp truck is it?

Weekend Warrior :)

80 series 3 link with 60 series front and rears is will be

Struth, mine passed engineering without a front sway bar, but it drives sooo much better on road with one.

Sweet, when I looked under an 80 last I wasn't checking for a sway bar, will likely fit one with disconnects.

I think all 80 fronts have swaybars, and so should be fitted for easier engineering.
